Notes

KROQ had their listeners vote via their web site on who the listeners' favourite band of all time was. After counting more than 75,000 votes, Depeche Mode was declared the "Number One KROQ Band Of All Time". This sound file is the announcement of that fact. You can hear a clip from 1994 or 1995 with Dave Gahan and Kevin & Bean talking about the 1990 Wherehouse event.

Bean: We were talking the other day, when we were promoting the fact that you were going to be coming in, about the last time Kevin and I saw you, which was at the Wherehouse record store at the Beverly Center about 4 or 5 years ago.

Kevin: Oh, that was a good one!

Bean: Do you remember much about that night?

Kevin: A little scary

Bean: 20,000 people showed up at that instore, do you remember that?

Dave Gahan: That was insane.

Bean: We were on the, well you [Dave] eventually ended up on the inside for just a few minutes at the record store,

Dave Gahan: Yeah, um

Bean: But Kevin and I were standing there watching the windows bulge wondering how much the glass was going to hold, I was afraid of that.

Dave Gahan: You know, yeah, it actually turned out pretty scary. I mean at first it was like wow, this is so exciting, and we couldn't believe it and everything. But once we got inside the store in my sickness in my head I saw that whole window coming in and all these people come flying in in little pieces, you know. I pictured the whole thing, you know, because that's where I go with stuff like that. We went back to the hotel afterwards, and we sat and flicked through all the news channels and it was like "English rock band, Depeche Mode, tonight stopped the traffic", you know?

*All Laugh*

Dave Gahan: It was pretty funny, watching it all, you know.

Prerecorded Announcer: K-R-O-Q, KROQ.
